LESLIE MEDEMA, HEAD OF LEARNING
Leslie has been heading East or West depending on your perspective since leaving her home in South Dakota to complete a Masters in Public Affairs from Princeton University. Her first job in education was as a school bus driver in rural South Dakota (which made public policy look easy).
Her twin passions of education and history took her to Vietnam in 2004, where she taught at Can Tho University as a Princeton in Asia (PiA) fellow before she became the PiA Director of Asian Operations in Singapore until 2011.
During her eight-year tenure at Green School Bali, her team designed and implemented the unique High School programme, while she also served as the Guidance Counselor. Next, she served as the School Principal for four years. Her ‘prouds’ include the Green Stone project, receiving accreditation for the High School curriculum, and an avocado tree that a young learner gave her that still grows.
Leslie oversees the implementation of the Green School curriculum and supports a process to finely calibrate it to celebrate the culture and country of where each school stands on this earth.
365体育官网She is an avid baseball fan, scuba diver, journaler, and loves a good laugh.
CHRIS EDWARDS, HEAD OF CURRICULUM
Chris grew up in Liverpool, UK, in an age so distant that the word Sustainability was literally unknown to the English language. He subsequently won a First Class Degree in English and became a Postmaster at Merton College, University of Oxford. Chris embarked on a teaching career that took him to Asia, South America and the UK where he became Head of one of Britain’s largest independent schools, five hundred year-old Bromsgrove. Ten years later he was leading the world’s largest international school, the United World College of South East Asia, where he remained for five years before joining Green School.
365体育官网Chris’ awareness of environmental issues began as a child in Liverpool. Forty years later, in Singapore, Chris presided over the two greenest campuses on the island, both with Green Mark Platinum awards. Chris believes passionately that social justice and sustainability are inextricably entwined, and his establishing of a Foundation while at Bromsgrove and overseeing the widening of access for overseas scholars in Singapore are testament to this.
Chris finds joy in the Arts (he is a keen musician), walking and learning alongside younger, faster minds. His darkest, most despairing hours come from following Everton Football Club.

He designed the first governance structure of Green School and sat on its Board of Management for five years before taking up Trustee-ship. Louise has 15 years of global experience in running Education businesses which focus on driving change while retaining and empowering great teaching at their core. Today she is as an operational advisor, Chair and NED in a handful of Private Equity-backed businesses mainly in the EdTech, digital media and classified/recruitment spaces in Europe and the US. Additionally she serves on the advisory board of GSV Acceleration, the predominant, education-focused Silicon Valley, VC investor.
365体育官网She believes that great Education and teaching can never be packaged into a formula, but is dependent on the best educational minds and the astonishing curiosity of the student coming together to do something very special. She believes that education businesses flourish when they understand and enable this, rather than try to simply codify it.
Her love of the Education world was crystallised when she was the CEO and then Chair of TES Global, where she oversaw the transformation of the traditional print-based education business into a global, digital platform that comprises one of the biggest online recruitment markets as well as the largest online network of teachers – which also happened to be the world’s largest single-profession social network. Louise led TES’s rapid global expansion and sales growth through three separate private equity investors – Exponent, Charterhouse and TPG – all while putting teachers and the classroom at the very centre of the enterprise. In addition, she served on the Board and as an Operating Partner at Skillsoft – the number one digital, workplace learning company – based in Boston, US. She is also a founder partner, Board Director and investor at Ozy.com a US digital media, TV and live events start-up, based in Silicon Valley but now making waves across the US and beyond – and which is firmly focused on feeding the curious mind – regardless of age.

Based on the values of humility, empathy and gratitude, students have engaged in community-based, collaborative, design projects where students learn “to be the change they wish to see in the world.”
Raj has taught biology, coached football and swimming, and been an administrator for schools in India, Kenya and Switzerland. He has created many leadership programs for students, supports bystander education, believes in striving for equitable learning, and admires schools that align their values with lived experience and prioritize well-being.
